The first accident was dispatched at 1435 hours to assist Company 78 (Washington Boro). They had a tractor trailer leaking diesel fuel after a minor accident. Then at 1555 hours the 84 Rescue was dispatched to assist Company 710 (Marietta) on a two car accident on Route 441. 710 arrived and had one victim still in the vehicle in need of EMS. The 84 Rescue arrived behind Engine 710 and assisted their crew with hazard control and stabilization. Once EMS arrived the 84 crew assisted with packaging and removing the victim from the vehicle. Patient enroute to the local hospital the 84 Rescue went available.
May 9, 2010 2010 Make A Wish Convoy!
Today the 84 Rescue headed to participate in the 2010 Make A Wish Convoy in Lancaster County. One wish child was on board for the convoy ride through Lancaster. The Hambones would like to thank the entire Fritz Family for raising the money and taking the 84 Rescue down to participate.
Tonight 16 Junior Firefighters from Companies 2-7 (Neffsville), 4-10 (Witmer), 6-3 (Lafayette) and the Hambones went to the Lancaster County Public Safety Training Center (LCPSTC) for training on Rope Rescue. Each Junior Firefighter had the opportunity to rappel, tie off and do a self rescue. The Junior Firefighters have been meeting twice a month for the past two years to do training at each of the four stations. The training between the Juniors has built a great camaraderie of all the Juniors involved.
May 3, 2010 Assist To Marietta & Mountville For Monday!
Monday started at 1024 hours for an Automatic Fire Alarm to assist Company 710 (Marietta). The 84 Rescue went enroute with a crew of 5. During our response Engine 710 arrived on the scene and confirmed a false activation putting the entire box in service. The 84 Rescue and crew returned to station.
Then at 1638 hours the 84 Rescue was again dispatched for an Apartment Building Fire to assist Company 715 (Mountville). The 84 Rescue went enroute with 7, interior crews from 715 reporting smoke in the apartment from unknown source. Engine 715 and 76 (West Hempfield) laid a supply line from the hydrant with the crew stretching a handline to the front door. Truck 67 (Rohrerstown) was given the assignment to search the complex. The 84 Rescue was assigned to go to the reported fire apartment and assist with investigation. Crews found unattended cooking on the stove. Once this was found the assignment was down-graded and the 84 Rescue was put available. Crew ventilated the apartment complex and returned to service.
April 30, 2010 Weekend Has The Rescue Working!
Friday started at 1659 hours for a Structure Fire to assist Company 75 (Mount Joy). The 84 Rescue went enroute with 5 and arrived on the scene. First arriving crews found a working fire inside the dwelling. The 84 Rescue arrived and set up the second RIT sector for the incident. The 84 Rescue worked the scene for 102 minutes. Then at 2218 hours the 84 Rescue was dispatched for a Vehicle Accident involving a Tractor Trailer to assist Company 76. The 84 Rescue arrived behind Rescue 76 with Command requesting the 84 Crew check the tractor trailer for any hazards. None were found and Command 76 put the 84 Rescue available.

April 28, 2010 MVA Into A Structure!
At 1636 hours the 84 Heavy Rescue was dispatched for a Vehicle Accident in Columbia Borough. The 84 Rescue went enroute with a crew of 6 and arrived on the scene behind Engine 87 (Consolidated). Crews found one vehicle that went off the roadway and ran into a Structure that sat near the roadway. Crews controlled hazards and evaluated the damage to the Structure. The 84 Rescue worked the scene for 42 minutes and then went available.
April 27, 2010 Peters Brings Home 4th Place!
On April 15, 2010 Austin Peters competed against 10 other district gold medalist firefighters in Hershey, Pa. The task that he had to perform was a CPAT test ,which is a test specifically designed for firefighters that challenges a firefighter's physical strength and firefighting skills. Austin ended up getting fourth place. The organization that runs these competitions is Skills USA which is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled work force. Skills USA works with career technical schools like Lancaster County Career and Technology Center (LCCTC). Several of our firefighters have come from LCCTC program including Austin Peters, Bryan Mentzer, and Tyler Seibert. Congratulations Austin!
April 26, 2010 Vehicle Accident Monday Night!
Tonight at 2004 hours the 84 Engine and 84 Rescue were both due for a Motor Vehicle Accident with reported Fire to assist Company 76 (West Hempfield). The 84 Engine went enroute with a crew of 5. Chief 84 arrived on the scene reporting no fire, one vehicle into a guardrail. Chief 84 confirmed no injuries and the incident to be in Columbia Borough. The incident was handled by the 84 Engine and the remainder of the units were put available.
April 24, 2010 2010 Spring Time Bar-B-Q!
Today started at 0330 hours for our 2010 Springtime Bar-B-Q. The chickens were put over the fire at 0500 hours. The Springtime Bar-B-Q had us preparing and cooking 2000 chickens this year. The 84 Volunteers sold 1500 Dinner Chickens which include: 1/2 Chicken, Baked Potato, Applesauce, Cupcake, Rolls and a Turkey Hill drink. Also during the Bar-B-Q we served 500 1/2 chickens.
The Bar-B-Q was a total sellout at 1500 hours with the last of the chickens gone around 1700 hours.
